In May of
1992, we lost our Dad. To
honor him, our brother Terry conceived of and developed the idea of
the GWS Scholarship Fund. The
Fund provided financial assistance annually in the form of four
scholarships to De La Salle Institute high school students.
The annual George W.
Shinnick Memorial Golf Outing was the only means of fundraising for
the GWS Fund. It ran for
10 years, from 1993 thru 2002. Terry always wanted the golf outing to be the last of the
season. So it took place
in late September or early October.
The weather was usually very pleasant for that time, but not
always! Nevertheless, a
great time was always had by all.
Thanks to all who supported the Fund.
